Desserts for Beginners
By LemonYellow
First of all desserts don't require too much skill. You pretty much add the correct amount of ingredients together, and tada!, you've made something delicious. Most of the time...
I would consider trying something easy and typical like cookies.
There are so many different recipes out there, so if you really like cookies its pretty hard to get bored with them. And most of them are pretty simple.
You could go for the original chocolate-chip recipe, or change it up a little bit by adding your favorite type of nut.
Mexican Wedding Cakes are some of my favorites. You could also try your luck at gingerbread or sugar cookies. All of these are pretty beginner proof. Just make sure they don't burn!
Now, cookies may be easy and tasty, but they're not that exciting...
Strawberry Ice cream
Icecream.
I love making ice cream, and its pretty simple too. All you really need is an ice-cream maker and you're good to go.
I would suggest a simple vanilla to begin with. Lemon does't require too much work either. And they're both very delicious!
But, you can truly make any flavor imaginable! So experiment!
(You can just search vanilla icecream, or whatever you want to make on google, and get an unlimited number of recipes, so I'm not going to post any here. But, if anybody's interested I can send you links to my favorites :) Once I start experimenting with my own recipes, I'll make a hub for the successes.)
Next, Cupcakes and cakes.
You can always go down the box path. Thats easy enough, follow the instructions on the box, pop it in the oven, let it cool, and its ready to eat.
I always feel more accomplished when I make them from scratch. Try it. Its easy, and makes them taste just that much better.
My person favorite is plain chocolate. It can't get much better than that.
I recently tried Strawberry Lemonade ones, I personally didn't really like them. But I used a box and artificial strawberry isn't my favorite.
So just look up a recipe and go for it!
Try buttercream frosting with the cakes! It's delicious and all you need is a mixer, butter and sugar. Easy!
